Obituary of John P Peterson
John “Jack” Peterson of Cambridge, age 86, died peacefully February 27, 2020 with his family by his side.
Jack was a retired maintenance worker for the Youville Hospital when it was still run by the Archdiocese of Boston. He drove a taxi and continued to do so into his retirement days. He enjoyed playing pool, swimming, watching movies and most of all walking his dog. He loved his family.
He is survived by his children, Sean Peterson of Bedford, Erin Peterson of Colorado, Scott Peterson of Cambridge, Kevin Peterson of Cambridge, Mark Peterson of Canton, and Martin Peterson. His loving grandchildren, Briana, Kaera, Kai, Senna, Sorrel, Kiran, Adao and Harry. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Meehan.
He is predeceased by his former wife, Ellen (Quinlan) Peterson, longtime companion Nancy Raboin and his siblings, Martin Peterson, Patricia Geisert and Ruth Pisano. He was also predeceased by his beloved dogs, Sam Sr. and Sam Jr.
Jack’s family would like to thank the many caregivers that made his life more comfortable this past year. They would especially like to thank his building manger Sandra and her staff at the JFK building where he called home for the last 15 years. Thank you, Sandra, you have a heart of gold!
A memorial funeral mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Cambridge on Friday, March 6, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours and burial will take place at a later date.
