Obituary of Cosmo J. DeVelis

March 15, 2021 Cosmo John "Sonny" DeVelis, age 88.  Beloved husband of Mildred “Millie” (Twohig) DeVelis, to whom he was married to for 66 years.  Devoted father of Deborah Cecere and her husband, David of Bonita Springs, Florida, Karen Mahoney and her husband, Richard of Billerica and Julie Cataldo and her husband Michael of Billerica.  Loving grandfather of Nina Cecere of New York, Brandon Mahoney, Justin, Alexa and Jake Cataldo all of Billerica. Brother of Robert DeVelis of Woburn and sister Jean (DeVelis) Leccese and of Methuen.  Cosmo was born in Somerville, son of the late John DeVelis and Antoinette (Luongo) DeVelis.  He was a Korean War Army Veteran.  Funeral from Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Road (Rt 3A) Billerica Saturday, March 20 at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass in St. Matthew Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa’s Church, 466 Boston Rd Billerica at 10:00 AM.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visiting hours, Friday 4-7 PM in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Road (Rt 3A) Billerica.  All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing; we ask that visitors pay their respects and exit the funeral home promptly to allow other guests to enter.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cosmo’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org: or Beth Israel Lahey Health Greatest Needs Fund.  https://burnsfuneralhomes.com/.  Please sign up for the funeral mass at www.signupgenius.com
