Walter was a special funny person to me. Growing up he was part of our family and he will always be remembered as that. Growing up many times my own family (made up of my husband and my children) spent time with Barbara & Walter at there house having fun. Walter was a fun funny person and was always good for a laugh. I’m sorry we lost touch with Walter & Barbara over the years, as he was a big part of my life growing up.. Barbara I am very sorry for your loss of Walter.

Dad,
You were the perfect mix of Chuck Norris, Rambo, MacGyver, Charles Bronson, Bob Vila, Andy Griffith, Al Bundy and Phil Robertson with a touch of Billy Graham.
Thank you for everything. The best father, mentor, electrician, mechanic, story teller, etc… there ever was.
Bye for now. Can’t wait to see you again in heaven, praise Jesus!

As the father of one of my best friends, Mr. Mietzner was larger than life to me. So, I have a hard time picturing him any way other than as I remember him from 30 years ago, tall, strong, manly, with a quick and biting wit that could knock the breath out of you if you weren't acting right. The kind of man who could be hard on you...but you knew it was always fair even as a teenager.
Apart from all of that though, he had a generous spirit and love of life to him that could make him playful...funny...helpful. The man couldn't help but teach you things. He had a breadth of knowledge and experience with all things electric and mechanical that made him a resource for practically everyone who knew him. He gave advice (both solicited and not) freely. Some years ago when I was having car trouble and no mechanic I could afford to pay for help, it was Mr. Mietzner that I called (long distance) to help me get things back in running shape again. He helped me gladly. Told me the things to do and look for to make the engine turn over properly. All I could do was thank him...and that's all he needed from me.
I cannot, obviously, speak to everything there was to know about him. But, as a kid I sometimes slept on the man's sofa, ate his food, swam in his pool, and sought his advice...and he was never anything but welcoming to me. The world is the worse for his passing.
