Obituary of Denise E. Turner
Denise E. Turner (Foster), a cherished mother, passed away on July 15, 2023, in Billerica, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Russell L. Turner Sr.. Born and lived in East Boston most of her life, where she raised her children with love and devotion alongside her husband.
Denise dedicated her life to her children and family, serving as a loving mother and homemaker. She had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing meals for her loved ones, especially during the holidays. Those that knew Denise, knew that she also loved her scratchies, and a random lucky number she played and the meaning behind why she was playing that number “front and back”. Known for her selflessness, Denise was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Denise is survived by her children, Denise (Turner) Cook and her husband Christopher C. Cook, Sr. of Billerica, MA, Russell L. Turner, Jr. of Chelsea, MA and his wife Erikka, and Maryann Turner of Cambridge, MA. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Karen A. Hancock and her late husband Michael, Evelyn E. Celona and her husband Nunzio, all of East Boston. Denise was predeceased by her parents Evelyn A. (Trevor) and George T. Foster Sr., her sister Marilyn (Foster) Mortell, and her big brother George T. Foster Jr. and his wife Joan Foster. Additionally, Denise leaves behind her 7 grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Elizabeth, Abigail, Jyllian, Terri, Kyle, and Justin, who affectionately referred to her as Nana. She also held a special place in her heart for her numerous nieces and nephews, who they lovingly referred to her as Auntie Dee Dee.
In her final years, Denise cherished her time living with her grandchildren, especially her "three besties", Christopher Jr., Elizabeth, and Abigail, who lovingly cared for her. Her daughter Denise and son-in-law Christopher Sr. also provided unwavering support and cherished the time spent with her, listening to her life stories and experience. She also enjoyed visits and additional care from her daughter Maryann.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral or memorial services are planned. The family intends to celebrate her life at a future date.
In honor of Denise's memory, friends and family who wish to pay tribute are encouraged to make donations in her name to local children's hospitals, child care centers, or organizations supporting motherhood.
