Robert Allen Stier was born in Detroit, MI the oldest of eight children of Lawrence and Violet Stier. Robert (Bob) attended St. Suzanne Elementary school prior to attending the University of Detroit High School. Robert was an exceptional athlete in high school and was voted captain to both the football and track and field teams. Bob also gained recognition and was awarded all-state honors for both football and track. He went on to attend Holy Cross college, in Worcester, MA on a full scholarship. Upon graduation Bob obtained his Masters and Doctoral Degrees from The Ohio State University. Bob was also a member of the United States Army Reserve. In 1972, he worked as a Child Psychologist at Diocesan Child Guidance Center in Columbus, Ohio. In 1975 he began teaching developmental child and adolescent psychology at Rhode Island college in Providence Rhode Island. Robert was also in the Department of Psychiatry for Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA as a teacher, consultant and supervisor of psychology for psychiatric residents. He also maintained his private practice the Melrose Psychiatric Clinic.
Bob enjoyed music, theater and various sporting events throughout his life. In retirement he loved participating in MCTV productions and received an award from the City of Methuen and the House of Representatives, of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for his involvement in productions over the years.
He is survived by his four children, Peter, Elliot, Shoshana and Gabriel: five grandchildren Ella, Coralie, William, "Will", Tyler and Andrew and one due in December and six of his siblings. He is predeceased by his brother, Ronald. He is also survived by his devoted fiancée, Maria Giammattei. We would like to thank the staff of AdviniaCare of Wilmington, MA, especially the members of the Concord Unit who provided such wonderful care where Robert (Bob) passed away as a result of complications from Alzheimer's. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica will be held Friday, Decemger 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited.
