Obituary of Elaine J. Maher

Elaine J. (Couto) Maher, age 77, passed away peacefully on April 22,2024, surrounded by her family and friends.  She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Maher.  She was born on June 22, 1946, to the late Joseph and Mary Couto. Devoted mother of Maryanne and her Husband, Patrick, James and partner, Chloe, and the late Elaine Maher. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Patrick, Rachel, Michael, Daniel, Christopher, Jacob, and Nicholas. She is also survived by her cat Mickey, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elaine’s greatest enjoyment was raising her three children.  When her kids where older, she worked for My Cleaners where she met her best friends, Ann and Angela.

If you knew her, you knew how strong and brave she was.

She loved driving through the White Mountains with her husband. They would just drive aimlessly and enjoy the scenery.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  She also enjoyed going to casinos to play the slots.  Her motto was,” If you don’t try, you can’t win.”

If you stopped by to visit, she would treat you like royalty and feed you so much you couldn’t fit through the front door on your way out.

Mom, your pure love, and generosity will be missed more than you will ever know.  Funeral service will be held in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd., (Rt. 3A), Thursday, May 2, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours, Wednesday, 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burns Funeral Home, Billerica. Interment, Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. www.burnsfuneralhomes.com
