Sr. Anne Eileen, Daughters of St. Paul posted a condolence
I was so sorry to hear of Ginny's passing. I only met her once, but we conversed often on the phone during the early stages of her illness. I knew her as a big-hearted, generous woman who fought hard to over come the several forms of cancr that afflicted her. My sympathy to her relatives, especially Ashley and David. Feel her closer to you than ever. God bless you

When the Willamette Valley Chapter of the Gold Star Wives hosted the National Convention here in Portland, OR. in 2006, Virginia wasn't able to attend, but she was very kind and sent several items for our raffle. She sent me a funny book (about Red Hats) and a red hat! I treasure it. Did get to meet her in New Haven. She was outspoken, but you can not deny her commitment to her causes! Rest in Peace and without pain. She will be missed. Judi Van Cleave, WV GSW President

We will miss Virginia very much. She saved Gold Star Wives when the Boston Chapter was floundering and she built the chapter up. She was president of the Boston Chapter and rRgional Gold Star Wives. She was a very hard worker for the organization and she will be greatly missed.
She worked very hard in advocating for the war widows of Korea and Vietnam to help get them established. There was only one Virginia and we will miss her very much.

I met Virginia several years ago in Madison, WI. Like many other people, I was immediately attracted to her and admired her fortitude and determination. Her example sets the bar high for the rest of us to follow. I know she is in a better place. Gold Star Wives has just lost a real warrior.

To Virginia's Family,
I worked with Ginny in the Elderly Commission. She was a caring person who never gave up in the face of obstacles and tradegies which would have defeated a lesser person. Although I lost contact with her after she retired, I'll always remember her. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Betsy

I remember Ginny Hurley vividly from Fenway neighborhood politics starting in 1974. What a strong, wonderful woman. I feel fortunate to have known her. She was much admired by some gigantic political people I know who knew her. My condolences to her family, now even many years after her passing. She certainly made a great, positive mark in life.
