Obituary of James C. Chapman
James C. Chapman, age 56, died Monday, June 25, 2012 at Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH. He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. "Peggy" (O'Meara) Chapman, whom he married on May 6, 1995. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late William C. Chapman, Sr., and Mary (Frist) Chapman. Jim served in U.S. Army with the rank of Private and was a member of the Army Post Band. A graduate of Daniel Webster College in Portsmouth, NH with a 3.95 GPA, he was a Capstone Project Leader. Jim worked as Project Manager with JEOL UA, Inc., a scientific equipment firm in Peabody for 29 years. He was Past President of the American Federation of Musicians, Local #220 1992-1994 and was listed in the Who's Who of Electronic Technicians in 1980. An accomplished musician, Jim played French horn with several orchestras, including the Melrose Symphony Orchestra, the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Holyoke Civic Orchestra, and the Westfield Concert Band. He also had his private pilot license. Jim was a member of Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam, MA and New Colony Baptist Church in Billerica, and was active in the music ministries of both churches. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three brothers, William C. Chapman, Jr. of Fort Mill, SC, Robert L. Chapman of Jacksonville, FL, and Ronald W. Chapman of Alum Creek, WV. He was also the brother of the late Barbara A. Chapman.
