Barbara R. (Fogelin) Johansen, age 91, a resident of the Atrium at Drum Hill in North Chelmsford and former longtime resident of Billerica, died Saturday, September 22, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Johansen, who died in 1991. Born in Cambridge, August 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Sherburne) Fogelin. Barbara was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School and Mt. Ida College. During WWII she served with the Army Air Force Aircraft Warning Service Reserve. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Billerica and their Church Choir. Mrs. Johansen was also a charter member and past President of the Billerica Arts and Crafts Association and former member of the Reading and Lexington Art Associations. Known for her beautiful oil and watercolor paintings, she was a talented teacher who conducted classes throughout New England, New Jersey, and Scotland. She is survived by her three sons and daughters -in-law, Eric Johansen and his wife Linda of Pelham, NH, Paul Johansen and his wife Jane of Billerica, and David Johansen and his wife Judy of New Boston, NH; her son in-law, Rodel Proia of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and by 7 loving grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Judy (Johansen) Proia and sister of the late Russell J. Fogelin.
