Obituary of Ann T. Irving
Ann Terese (Garrity) Irving, age 77, died Sunday evening, April 28, 2013, at her home in Billerica after a long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Richard A. Irving. Born in Boston, April 27, 1936, Ann was the daughter of the late Anna (Wilde) and Hugh Garrity. She was a graduate of St. Margaret’s High School in Dorchester, Class of 1954. She and Richard married in 1954; they lived in Dorchester before moving to North Billerica in 1963. Ann was employed by F.W. Woolworth during her high school senior year. Following her graduation, she worked at John Hancock Insurance Company and Elm Farm Markets before moving to Billerica. She was employed as a secretary to the principal of the Talbot School in Billerica until her retirement. She then filled her time by becoming a licensed day care provider for many years, enjoying several additional families of her “kids”. She loved summer camping and was active in NAFCA and Good Sam. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amy Lu Chevalier of Pepperell and her son, Richard A. Irving, Jr., of Litchfield, NH. She also leaves her 6 grandchildren, Heather, Brian, Raymond, Christopher, Michael and Donald. A memorial wake will be held in the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Rd. (Rt. 3A), Billerica, Wednesday, May 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.
