Alice L. Arakelian, age 92, passed away on October 26, 2018, in Jensen Beach, Florida. She was a lifelong resident of Billerica, Massachusetts, a graduate of Howe High School, and attended Massachusetts College of Art. She was a member of the North Billerica Baptist Church where through the years she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was a member of their ABC Women's Group. Alice was active in many community activities, including President of the Billerica Alumni Association, PTA, and Billerica Garden Club. Alice was an avid gardener and nature lover. She enjoyed drawing and painting, especially her beautiful flowers she grew in her gardens. She loved boating and swimming, beginning as a child growing up on the Concord River through her early 90s at her beloved Florida Keys home. Alice was married to Morris for 72 years before his death in 2017. She was predeceased by her brothers, Frederick and Everett Gile, and her sister, Lois (Gile) Laverty. She is survived by her four children: Lee (Arakelian) and Richard Marzilli of Lexington, Massachusetts; Martha (Arakelian) and John Re of Newport, Vermont; Penny (Arakelian) and Harry Cooke of Jensen Beach, Florida; and Polly Arakelian of Methuen, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and her sister, Emma (Gile) Hatch of Indiana. A memorial service will be held November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Billerica Baptist Church, 17 Colson Street.
