Obituary of Betty Ann Clancy

Betty Ann (Hatzberger) Clancy , age 82, of Billerica, died Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Tippett Home in Needham after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Clancy. She was born in Woburn, February 2, 1934, the daughter of the late William and Josephine (Casey) Hatzberger. Since she was 3 years old, St. Mary’s Church in Billerica has been Betty’s background. Her grandparents and parents were very involved with the planning and fundraising to build this church which has been home to so many Pinehurst families for decades. She is survived by her son, John J. Clancy of Billerica, her three loving granddaughters; Kathleen Clancy, (Ross University School of Vet. Medicine, St. Kitts), Heather Clancy (Suffolk University Law School, Boston) and Christine Clancy (Wheaton College, Norton); her daughter-in-law, Georgine Clancy of Hudson, NH; her sisters, Jean Cannady of Harrison, AK, and Katherine Hatzberger of MI; and her sister-in-law, Wanda Nordlie of Hudson, NH. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, William F. Hatzberger and his wife, Jane, of Brooklyn, CT, Patricia DuPonte of Portsmouth , RI, James Hatzberger and his wife, Mary Ann, of Warwick, RI, Michael Hatzberger (godson) of Tiverton, RI, Karen Toppa and her husband, Nick, of Middletown, RI, Mark Hatzberger (godson) and his wife, Katherine, of Portsmouth, RI, Maureen Arruda and her husband, Fred, of Portsmouth, RI, Manuel DuPonte of Portsmouth, RI, Joseph Nordlie, Jr. (Suffolk University, Boston), Kathy Nordlie (goddaughter)of Malden, and Kim Nordlie of Clinton; and her sisters-in-law; Mary McCafferty of Burlington and Theresa Walsh of Woburn. In addition, she leaves her close friends, Evelyn Cook, Joanie Towle and Alice Lausier, all of Billerica, and over 100 plus nieces and nephews and her friends of Billerica Emblem Club #410 and Billerica Lodge of Elks. Her love of life was her family and friends. She spent many nights and weekends working with her friends at the Emblem Club #410 raising scholarship money for the children of Billerica. But her greatest pride in life was her granddaughters whom she witnessed to become very successful. She was also the sister of the late William Hatzberger and his wife, Ann of Portsmouth, RI, Joseph Nordlie, Sr, and aunt of Brandon Nordlie of Billerica.
