Robert J. Murray, age 74, died peacefully, with his family at his side, on Friday, October 6, 2017, following a long illness, but a short struggle with complications due to COPD. Robert was the beloved husband of Dianne Leah (Nickerson) Murray to whom he was married 50 years. Born in Boston, March 11, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles and Henrietta (Foster) Murray of Charlestown. A carpenter by trade and a well respected member of the local building community, he will be remembered for his quick wit, short fuse, and incorrigible appetite for the humorous side of life; he will be missed deeply. Robert enjoyed hunting, golfing, puttering around the house, but most especially, spending time with his family and friends. He took great joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Michelle Murray-Martone of Windham, NH and Jennifer A. Murray and her partner, Sherri Kelly of Chelmsford, and his son Robert J. Murray, Jr., and his wife, MyLinda, of Grafton. He also leaves his four loving grandchildren, Laney and Danny Coughlin, Jake Brooks and Michael Martone, and his sister, Henrietta Colella of Woburn. He was also the brother of the late Richard, David and Charles Murray.
