Obituary of Roland Joseph Draper
Roland Joseph Draper, Jr., died peacefully at his home in Billerica on January 15, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife Rosaleen Georgina (Callahan) Draper, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage on October 20, 2009. He was born in Cambridge, January 12, 1935, son of the late Elizabeth "Tilly" (Draper) Burgess and Roland J. Draper. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Draper retired from the Cambridge Police Force in 1981 after 18 years of dedicated service as a Cambridge Police Officer. He even had a small role in the 1980 movie titled 'A Small Circle of Friends.' He went on to work part-time for 17 years as a van driver with Middlesex Community College. An active member of the Billerica Elks #2071, he made hundreds of friends throughout the years. Ron is best remembered by all for his quick wit and comical banter; he possessed the precious gift of making people smile and laugh right up to the end.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Roland J. Draper III of Chelmsford and his companion Cyndy Dandrea, and his daughter Victoria T. Gambale and her husband Robert K. Gambale of Billerica. "Papa" will be dearly missed by his six adoring grandchildren, Ashley, Janelle, and Tyler Draper and Mary, Melissa, and Robby Gambale. He is survived by his former daughter-in-law Deborah (Draper) Dias as well as his four sisters, Mary Panzino, Janet Roderick, Phyllis Burgess, and Joyce Yenowskas, and his many nieces and nephews.
