Clara B. (Bailey) Tingley, age 81, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Melvin C. Tingley, to whom she was married 43 years. Born in Hopewell, Virginia, October 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late A.S. Bailey and Mabel (Dills) Bailey Burnham. Clara was a graduate of Hopewell High, Class of 1944. A sixty year resident of Billerica, Mrs. Tingley was very active in the Billerica Council on Aging and the Billerica Golden Aging group. Clara enjoyed going on trips with her senior friends and playing bingo. She is survived by her two sons, Lonnie Tingley of Carlisle and Martin Tingley of Billerica, her two daughters, Tina Roberts and Tracie Tingley, both of Billerica, her brother, Rev. D.L. Bailey of Chester, VA, her sister, Louise Packard of Sacramento, CA, and her grandchildren, Meghan Tingley of Manchester, NH, Trina Williams and her husband, Joshua, of Dracut, and Graham Tingley of Lowell. She was also the sister of the late Ella McKay.
