Obituary of Francis C. Harrold
Francis C. Harrold, age 91, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Fairhaven HealthCare Center in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of Gladys A. (Butler) Harrold. He was born in Winchester, October 17, 1918, the son of the late Charles and Mary (Veinot) Harrold. A WWII Army veteran, Francis served with the Americal Division in the South Pacific, including Guadalcanal and the Northern Solomons. He was awarded several honors such as an Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with 2 service stars, a Presidential Unit Citation, and an American Defense Service Medal. Mr. Harrold, a member of IUOE #4, was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years. He was a resident of Billerica for 50 years and an active member of the Billerica Elks #2071. Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Rondeau of Dracut and Susan Landry of Billerica. He is also survived by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Marianne Lacoy and the late Francis Harrold Jr., and the brother of the late Eileen King and the late Andrew Harrold.
