Devastated to hear this news, even at this late date. The nicest, most beautiful, most gracious person you could ever meet, just like her wonderful mother. The Lawrys lived across from us on Porter Street. (Must confess that I pulled her hair and pushed her into the pricker bushes getting off the school bus one day. Sixth grade? But of course she forgave me and didn't rat me out.) By a strange coincidence, when we lived in upstate New York, Dotty and Gage lived within a half-mile of us. A horrible loss for Gage and Janey, as well as everyone who knew her, I cannot doubt. Ease their pain, Lord. Strange how we don't realize how much we value people until they are gone. May God bless her and receive her into his kingdom!

Dear Whittier Family,
Dotty taught my son and daughter at Concord Children's Center. She was an amazing teacher and saw in both of them the good and the curious and the delightful. She was encouraging and funny and positive. She helped my husband and me with knotty parenting challenges without making us feel like the novices we were--always encouraging and finding the best in what we were doing or trying to do. She was patient and kind. I remember when my daughter was petrified to be in the 4-5's play and sat on the side and cried through the entire performance. They were supportive and encouraging of her. She helped us through her careful observations of our son to figure out a medical issue that we had been trying to pinpoint through his entire infancy and young childhood. Her observations led to a diagnosis that finally pulled all of the puzzle pieces together--now we are able to understand how the various symptoms that we were seeing are connected and have a more regular and helpful therapy for him. She was a wonderful, wonderful person. She will be greatly missed. May her memory be a blessing to you always.
With love and respect,
Kim Frederick

To the families and loved ones of Mrs. Whittier, who we know will be dearly missed. Almighty God promised at Revelation 21:4 that he will wipe away all our tears. And death, pain, and sorrow will be no more. So, you can take great comfort from drawing close to God in prayer. And he will help sustain and support your families to endure. During these difficult times and in the months to follow. My deepest condolences to all your loved ones.

I'm so very sorry for your loss - Dotty was beautiful inside and out, very sweet and always fun. I remember back to dance classes at the Y, and MHS of course...especially the English History Trip. Our parents were very close and Dotty seemed like extended family. I have only fond memories of her and extend my sincere sympathy to John, Jane, Gage and all the family.
with love,

Oh what a great loss to all who had the pleasure to be close to Dotty! I remember her from MHS of course, and from our youth group at First Congregational before then. Our parents were friends, so I always felt an extra and almost familial connection. Even though over the years I saw her only at reunions, I remember her fondly. And the remembrances posted by Candy Rogers and Penny George have really brought me back! My condolences to Dotty's dear family and to her many friends. What a wonderful woman! She will live on in her daughters and grandchildren, and in her husband Gage's heart. With love, Kathryn (Pierce).
