Obituary of Michael C. Economakos

Michael C. “Doc” Economakos, of Billerica, died Monday, August 5, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a 19 year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Patricia L. (Pikunas) Economakos to whom he was married 54 years. He was the devoted and dedicated father of Christopher and Stephen Economakos.  Born in Cambridge, August 12, 1946, Michael was the son of the late Charles and Marion Economakos. He was a graduate of Watertown High School where he played baseball, basketball, and football. A veteran of the United States Army, Michael served during the Vietnam War. After graduating from UMass Amherst, “Doc” became a physical education teacher and an athletic trainer in the Chelmsford Public School System where he worked for 34 years. He was inducted into the Chelmsford High School Hall of Fame. Michael, a die-hard Boston sports fan, also enjoyed gardening. He will be forever remembered for his kindness and for being a truly good person. Besides his wife and sons, his other survivors include Dolores, Joseph, and William Solominsky, and Will and Lorraine Clifford. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his sister Kathy.
